Why This Retreat is Different?

There are plenty of places to collect information - This isn’t one of them.

This retreat is designed for experienced hand therapists who already know a lot — but rarely get uninterrupted time to think well.

Instead of back-to-back lectures, you’ll experience:

  • Structured case discussions
  • Focused topic sessions that refine — not overwhelm
  • Small group reasoning, not passive listening
  • Protected quiet time to integrate
  • A small group where every voice matters

With only 15 participants, this is real conversation — not a crowd.

The Retreat Experience

Over three fabulous days, we'll be taking time out from our work to disconnect from the world so we can reconnect to ourselves. There'll be plenty of time for rest and connection with the other amazing people who are attending - this is where the magic happens. But here's an idea of our itinerary.

Remember this is a time for you!

Please give yourself the full weekend to truly get the most out of the experience. That means arriving to Sydney on the Friday so that you can travel to Stanwell Park in time for the first welcome session.  It also means departing Sydney (or returning home) on the Sunday afternoon or evening, or possibly Monday. There is the option to stay the extra night at no added cost.

I highly suggest that you also put on a proper "out of office" before you come away. That means no meetings, no calls and no work to be completed. It's just a few days out of your entire year and the gift is truly in the space that is created when we make this time. The private and secluded accommodation in the heart of nature will also enforce a little bit of disconnecting from the outside world, to ensure that you reconnect to yourself.

Take this time to switch off, to truly be present and to really receive the opportunities that this retreat has to offer. I promise you will be grateful for this precious time.

Beth's your host

My journey in hand therapy started when I was a teenager. Little did I know then that reading medical biographies would lead me into this exquisite area of practice.

From the very beginning of my career I've loved hand therapy. This is such a unique area of practice. I love that physios and OTs can bring different ways of thinking and great skills to hand therapy for the benefit of each other and our clients.

I love to sit chatting over a coffee with colleagues. I love talking about the challenges and intricacies of hand therapy. I love going deep in thinking and discussion.

That's why I've created this event - a unique opportunity for experienced hand therapists to come together to talk about hands to their hearts content AND in a beautiful, peaceful setting.

If you'd like to find out more - set up a chat with me.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Will this retreat count towards my CPD hours?
Yes! This retreat is designed to contribute to your professional development requirements. I will provide documentation for CPD submission.

2. What level of experience is this designed for? This retreat is for experienced hand therapists (5yrs + experience/ AHT). It’s discussion-based and assumes a solid foundation in hand and upper limb practice. If you’re unsure whether it’s the right fit, feel free to reach out.

3. What should I bring?
Bring your enthusiasm, any specific case studies or clinical challenges you’d like to discuss, and comfortable attire for hands-on workshops. And make sure you have some warm clothes.

4. How many people will be attending?
I am keeping this retreat intimate to ensure high-value interaction. Spots are limited.

5. Do I need to present a case? You’re invited to submit a case — but you won’t be forced. If you do bring one, it will be discussed using a structured, supportive format. If you’d prefer to listen and contribute to others’ cases, that’s absolutely fine too.

6. What happens after I apply? You’ll receive confirmation of your place, along with payment details and retreat preparation information. Closer to the retreat, you’ll receive guidance on submitting cases and preparing for our discussions.

7. What if I’m feeling a bit stretched or unsure in my practice right now? You’re not alone. Many experienced therapists carry complex cases quietly. This retreat is designed to be a steady, thoughtful space to unpack that — without judgement, and without pressure.

8. What is the cancellation policy?
I understand plans change. Please contact me for our refund and cancellation policy details.

9. What if I don’t know anyone attending? That’s very common — and completely fine. Because the group is small, connection happens naturally and quickly. The retreat is intentionally designed to feel friendly, safe and generous.

10. Is there downtime? Yes. There is protected quiet time for reflection, and free time built into the schedule. You won’t feel rushed or overloaded.

11. Can I stay Sunday night? If you'd like a slower departure, you’re welcome to stay Sunday night. There are no formal sessions on Sunday evening — just space to unwind.

You don’t need to have everything figured out. You don’t need to bring a “perfect” case. You just need to be open to thinking deeply, contributing honestly, and learning alongside other experienced clinicians.

The Setting

Stanwell Park / Otford, NSW

Perched between escarpment and ocean, our retreat home sits in one of the most breathtaking pockets of the NSW coastline. Stanwell Park and Otford offer expansive sea views, lush bushland, and a quietness that feels immediate.

This is a place where the nervous system settles. Where mornings begin with light over the ocean. Where the air feels different. Where thinking becomes easier.

Our Private Retreat Home(s)

We’ll be staying together in a beautifully appointed private Airbnb, reserved exclusively for our group. This is not a conference venue! It’s a spacious coastal home designed for comfort, ease and conversation.

You can expect:

  1. Elegant, open, light-filled shared spaces

  2. Comfortable bedrooms for rest and privacy

  3. Expansive outdoor areas with sweeping views

  4. Multiple quiet corners to retreat with a notebook or coffee

  5. A relaxed, refined atmosphere throughout

Every detail supports the intention of the weekend — thoughtful learning in a setting that feels restorative.

Designed for Both Connection and Space

There’s room here to gather around a table in deep discussion. And room to step away when you need quiet. To walk. To sit. To reflect.

The environment isn’t an add-on, it’s part of the experience and has been deliberately chosen for just that. Because where we learn shapes how we learn.
